The only psychopathic trait necessarily present is lack of a conscience. Psychopaths are immune to PTSD. This is the easiest way for me to differentiate them from sociopaths, who can do unconscionable things, but can also experience remorse, and can suffer PTSD. One clear sign that the person you're dealing with is pathological is the refusal to accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions.
