Fascinating. Given the coordination of the activity I would have to concur with the authors that some conscious thoughts were occurring involving the brain. I have recently done some reading on the topic, and note that studies were conducted in which targets were placed on top of cabinets that could not be seen by patients or medical staff standing on the ground. More than one NDE patient revived, after brain death, has reported seeing the targets while they were dead, separated from their physical body and thus able to rise to a position high enough to see the targets. Additionally, some patients reported conversations that occurred, treatments their bodies received, and other events that happened while they were brain dead, while zero activity occurred in their brain.

I am convinced that consciousness does not arise in the brain, but uses the brain to provide calculation and other services useful to conscious entities with physical bodies. There is much more evidence I could cite here, but my recent posts on consciousness have that information if you are interested in it.

Thanks!
