Harvard is broken. I have never been more glad my sons refused college, and the hungry schools that offered them full rides were simply dismissed out of hand. My eldest told me he would be happier washing dishes, and given the state of post-secondary education today, he was absolutely right. I am glad I raised them to exercise their own minds to determine their paths, and then just let them do so, rather than interfering and pushing them into careers I thought best.

Regarding the grey carpet, perhaps the presentation of celebrities to the peasants just doesn't matter much anymore, because the jabs are pretty much in as many arms as they will get into, and the wealthier people are the more they care about their money, IME. If grey carpet was on sale, continuing indoctrination deprecated, and oligarchs continue to value their advantage dearly, I can understand using grey carpet instead of red.

It's hard for me to relate to folks venerating celebrity. I've never cared much, other than the little I myself enjoyed when I played in a metal band as a youth. It didn't take long for that to pale to me either, as groupies quickly wear thin.
