Quinine should work the same way.

It's a component of Tonic Water, like you would add to Gin to make a Gin and Tonic. Takes about two liters of Tonic water to make a days therapeutic dose of Quinine. There are some negative side effects of Quinine. I recommend anyone intent on taking it do the necessary due diligence to understand them thoroughly.

I mix it with my whiskey. Tastes better with whiskey in it IMHO.
