Don't confuse them. Their hearts are in the right place. I reckon it's preferable to guide them to sound policy, rather than expect them to negotiate the actual facts to reasonable conclusions.
Hemp plastics are a good addition to the product lines currently available. Paper from hemp is vastly less harmful to the environment than mining forests for timber, and given the hostility that has resulted in banning straws and shopping bags that cost less and do less environmental harm than killing whole ecosystems for single use paper bags, it's a good initiative.
The recyclability of HDPE is practically infinite, while paper bags are just garbage that is far too expensive to recycle and will probably best end up as fuel in the extant economic environment. It's unreasonable to expect activists to either possess or be able to gain fact based understanding of such complex information as costs and benefits and comparisons based on real data instead of propaganda.
Thanks!
