Well, there's no need to wonder what government is for, when the full political fury of the people is necessary to mitigate it's depredations. Keeps anything good from getting done, anyway, and if the people fail to stymie oppressions in the offing, then more profit for the substantially staked from their feeder cattle.

Seems likely they'll succeed sooner than later, so it might be a good time to develop alternative stores of value that folks can exchange absent pernicious fees and interferene in their affairs. Beaver pelts used to serve hereabouts. Perhaps emus could serve there, or opals from Coober Pedy?
