Stone Age technology was not only made of stone, and Space Age technology is not only space travel. Prior to the advent of agriculture, collective industry did not exist. It was impossible for overlords to parasitize individual households with armed gangs of thugs, because prospective overlords themselves needed to hunt and gather for their necessities. Agriculture enabled collective industry to produce surplus food, and that enabled parasitism to support armed gangs of thugs to conquer and control society.
The opposite is happening today. The advent of decentralized means of production that enables Relativity Space to 3D print space ships also enables individual households to produce modern goods themselves, and it is no longer necessary for someone who needs a light switch plate cover to buy one at a store that was manufactured in a factory. More importantly, modern security technology renders armed gangs of thugs obsolete, and overlords can no longer project force against hapless individuals with impunity, as the Houthis have shown in the conflict in Yemen by deploying inexpensive drones to attack Saudi refineries that cost $B's.
While space travel will ultimately be potential to individuals that possess themselves 3D printers capable of creating space ships, the 3D printers necessary to do that remain extremely expensive, just as the first cars, televisions, and cell phones were when they were first introduced. It takes time for development to mature, for prices to drop, and technology to disperse across the population. The laws of physics mandate what technology is possible, and what has demonstrably happened is that all increases in productivity possible now decentralized the means of production. Making larger factories, bigger steel furnaces, more capital intensive industry no longer delivers economies of scale. Particularly the parasitism of corporate controls is able to be eliminated by consumers producing themselves what they consume, as backyard gardens have long enabled. The horrific environmental costs of monocropping, biocides slathered on food, and societal disruption have finally reached the economic tipping point at which most people will financially and physically benefit from growing their own food.
It takes time for people to learn, and this is complicated by censorship and propaganda. It also takes time for development, and the crude manual implementation of aquaponics presently necessary will be replaced by almost completely automated means of producing our own food without destroying natural ecosystems, using biocides in quantity, or spending great sums of money on novel technology like hydroponics and LEDs. Time will pass, however, and the technology available to individuals to produce and process food will increase in ease of use and decrease in cost until it is no longer less trouble to eat mass produced prepared food than it is to invest in an aquaponics setup, and the environmental costs of Big Agriculture, added to the horrific toxic impact of the biocides necessarily used by industrial agriculture, only hasten that tipping point.
Concurrently, automation of production of every kind and type of modern technology will be continuing as development of aquaponics and indoor farming does. The rep rap movement exemplifies this evolution in the production of goods and services ongoing, as owners of 3D printers build 3D printers that create more owners of 3D printers. This genie is not going back in the bottle.
What this means when viewed in toto is that the egalitarian society humanity evolved in when we had to make everything we needed by hand without technology is being restored because everything we need can be automated and produced in individual households. Centralization is no longer necessary and is not able to compete economically because it requires parasitic losses to oligarch profits and creates taxable events, which producing our own goods we consume does not. This evolution in decentralization isn't going to be pushed by wild eyed anarchists and dreamers like me, but practically minded people that need to save their money and will adopt the technology they can deploy to do that as soon as it's available to them.
Automobiles, televisions, and cell phones were initially all only available to specialists with specific understanding of those devices. When they became sufficiently developed for ordinary people to use without understanding the technology, they utterly transformed the world. Decentralized means of production are yet being developed to that point, and the overlords that depend on parasitization of collective production are clearly desperate to prevent humanity from escaping their control, which is why we see the WEF rapidly trying to transition to CBDCs and smart cities that might make their wealth and power - that only comes from parasitic losses decentralization eliminate - permanent.
They cannot change the laws of physics, and they cannot eradicate technological advance - yet. They absolutely intend to retain their wealth and power, and will do everything possible to do so.
I'm betting on the laws of physics and humanity to win. I'm betting on evolution rather than revolution. I also refer to the fact of prophecy. This is not unforeseen. This transition has been predicted by ancient seers for millenia. They all agree with me that humanity will create a paradise that no longer enables overlords with armed gangs of thugs to parasitize (although there are some details of interpretation involved in my reading of prophecy).
This isn't my novel idea. I'm just pointing to the work and ideas that have long been available. I don't see any other possible outcome plausible from extant circumstances.
Thanks!
Edit: I failed to note as I intended that >75% of food today is grown by small family farmers, not corporate industry. Ending small food production will cause a genocide of unimaginable horror. Humanity will not simply be convinced to submit, because most people today depend on producing their own food, and corporations cannot replace that production.
They never will.
