I have no research papers that support any of these as potential real options.

However, your statement that the need for a network we own will strongly incentivize us to create one if the internet is overly censored is factual and demonstrated by the fact that social media is the most economically powerful industry in the world today. The evidence of ongoing development reveals mechanisms that are demonstrable, unlike ansibles, and the cost of creating such a network is so rapidly collapsing that the speed and facility with which one can be built is becoming within the reach of ad hoc social networks.

Microsatellites and satellite comms are plunging in cost as the price to lift a KG into orbit does. Spacex is putting dozens of satellites into orbit weekly as a result, building an entire global communications network that can replace all others in every way with remarkable facility and excess capacity. Our need for a network we own that is uncensorable is ever more attainable as technological advances continue to radically transform industry. The first 3D printed spacecraft just launched in March 2023, and it is easily predictable that the costs of putting microsatellites into orbit will continue to plunge for the foreseeable future.

Something that is important to consider is that locking down the internet will only be attempted with a reasonable potential for success at preventing such a network from being built. For this reason, we should not be waiting for the extant comms to fail before replacing the internet. We have sound economic reasons to be undertaking it now, and the prospect of suppression strongly incentivizes such precaution while it is yet not prohibited. It will be harder to do when there are determined attempts to prevent it. We don't need new technologies, nor magick. There are real tools we should be learning to use now to be competent to make it happen before it's too late to do it.
