"People want this."

When the reality of war hits home, reasonable people quickly regret how wrong they've been.

"...ICE breaks down doors and enters houses."

When it's your door, or your mother being shot in the face, everything changes instantly. ICE isn't murdering pedo rapist illegal immigrants, but white American citizens. Racists, nationalists, and anyone that can tie their shoes and yearned for a return to the 1950's America will quickly recoil as the violence destroys their illusions by attacking them.

That will be the opportunity to re-align Americans to the core values all sides share, individual sovereignty, respect for human rights, and defense of the American people from violent oppression. There will be pathological brutes that revel in violence, as there always are in war, but most civilians, immigrants and citizens alike, aren't such brutes, but have been nudged by social media algorithms away from our core, shared values. Nothing dispels such cult programming faster than your family, your community, and your people being shot in the face or stomped on by jack-booted thugs.

Everyone in America today that isn't a psychopath or terminally stupid will very quickly abhor the reality of war on the ground.
