Hi hivers, hope your weekend is going great. I was taking a little stroll through the communities I frequent and I found a wonderful topic written by parauri@parauri about what we are as parents, what we are building and what we definitely become, I was powerfully struck by the title "Reflective or impulsive parents?". I think I had a good time reflecting to talk to you from my reality about it.

When we become parents it is as if we were literally thrown into the ring without knowing anything, with all the difficulties we can imagine, something that somehow through instinct, advice, medical recommendation or personal documentation we learn. What no one teaches us is the attitude we should have in front of every challenge that this life we are taking on, at times we ignore that our children being so young (and throughout their lives) still do not control their emotions (as adults it is also difficult for us) and we make mistakes with our reactions in this regard.

In my personal experience I have had to strengthen my patience a lot because I have a very naughty, curious and intelligent little girl. I have been impulsive on many occasions and it is something that I am controlling little by little, I don't know why we think that by yelling they will understand us and it is the opposite, in fact I don't know if it happens to you but it is common at least with my daughter that she pays more attention to her father, although sometimes he is impulsive he never yells to let her know things.

I think that with time and as our children grow up we notice that we are their role model, being impulsive only leaves bad examples for the child's life. I remember one time Alison screamed when she was angry because she saw me do it and so on and so on and so on and so on and I have had to learn to reflect "before". Logically we are human and we make mistakes, but the most sensible thing to do is to teach them that they have the right to make mistakes but they must learn to do the right thing.

In fact, this topic makes me reflect a lot on the work I do every day to be the best mother for Alison. They have been difficult days, of illnesses, problems and a myriad of things that also influence our parenting methods, although it may seem simple to separate one thing from the other it is not. The point here is to learn to deal with our emotions without affecting our children, to be a good example, to breathe and count to 100 to calm down, to be certain that it is just a bad moment and that the child is not to blame for it.

The determining factor in this type of situation should always be the welfare of our children, it is incredible but it is very easy for them to absorb our bad energy in moments of stress for us. When I talk about these issues I am as direct as possible, the truth is that for some time I have been implementing tips from a child psychologist and they have helped me a lot, for example not to shout to call her to eat but to approach her and get her attention, once this happens I tell her in this case that it is time to eat, you get more by talking to her in a good way than being rude or aggressive.

For sure there are days when I feel that I can't do it anymore, that I think that this is a challenge that I will not be able to overcome but there will always be that motivation that remains her, that is where I choose above all to reflect on my behavior, my strengths and virtues to overcome this complex world of motherhood.

Thank you so much for reading me!!, for your support and attention.
