Basically, you don’t choose what to believe — you only choose what you expose yourself to. And then your brain decides on its own what it believes. Honestly, it feels like a psychological hack. Still, I see it like this: you can’t suddenly decide what to believe, but you can choose your exposure....people, ideas and experiences. Belief is just a side effect of the environment, not a direct choice.
