Today I will tell you about a very interesting excursion that I did in the middle of May.
Only about 30-.40 minutes by car from my town Lukovit is the beautiful and picturesque Bulgarian villages of Kunino and Reselec.A group of my friends and I have decided to make a scouting excursion to these villages, and in the first part of our excursion, today I will tell you about our visit to the village of Kunino.
The village is not among the most famous tourist destinations in Bulgaria, but in recent years it has been mentioned frequently in various tourist groups, websites and online guidebooks.The reason why the area around Kunino has become increasingly popular in recent years is the extremely beautiful and picturesque nature around.It is for this reason that we decided decided to make an impromptu trip to Kunino to see with our own eyes and enjoy this wonderful nature.
My friends and I leave around noon. The driving to Кunino is short and calm. We drive for about 40 minutes through deserted areas and deserted country roads.
I consider it important to note that, apart from by car, you can also travel to Kunino by passenger train from Sofia to Varna, there is a railway station in the village.
Having reached the center of the village it is time to leave our cars and continue our walk from here on foot.
Since the information about the sights around that we found on the Internet is too scarce, we decide to start by taking a tour of the village to look for more information from a local residents.
At first glance, in the distance above the village, a majestic massive rock stands out and makes a strong impression, which we had learned was the rock phenomenon Chervenica, and which was one of the main goals of our walk.
During the tour I took some great photos of this fabulous rural idyll that surrounded us on all sides.
Life seems to have stopped in the village. Although we see the clean and neat streets, and impeccably maintained yards and home gardens, there is not a living soul around.
After about a 30-minute walk in the village, a friendly local owner of a grocery store helped us with our orientation and pointed us in the right direction to Chervenica.
And so with a lot of mood and enthusiasm, our group set off in the indicated direction.
After a short climb on a slightly extreme and grassy goat path, at one point we unexpectedly found ourselves again not on the inter-country road we had come on with the cars😁.
Yes, it usually happens when a person is unprepared and disorientated with directions😆.
From here on, our walk continued completely improvised, not knowing where we were going and what was ahead.
From this place there is also a wonderful panoramic view of the village and its surroundings.
Continuing up the road, an even more impressive sight opened up in front of us.

According to the information we had, we could assume that this beautiful rock canyon is the so-called Great Valley.
The place is unique and very beautiful, we had heard that there are many interesting and picturesque paths, rock caves and formations, but since the route seemed quite difficult, and it was completely unknown to us, we decided to stop here at this stage.
Returning on the way to the village, we stopped at the foot of the rock phenomenon Chervenica.
Our initial bold and optimistic idea was to climb to the top of Cervenica and take pictures from there.
On the spot, however, we found that the route to the top was much more difficult than we thought, and since the climbing conditions did not correspond to our current preparation, we gave up.
However, the main purpose of our trip is reconnaissance, research and gathering information about the various sights and routes in the area.With the promise to definitely return again, with much more serious preparation and organization, for now we say goodbye to Kunino.
So friends, largely satisfied with what we were able to see and learn today, we are heading to the neighboring village of Reselets, which is no less beautiful and interesting.I will tell you about Reselec very soon in my next post.
