Introducing Female Techno Power from Belgium
As you know I like to introduce electronic music acts from various countries playing different styles during Techno Friday or related Trance and House days in our music community. Today let us take a look at Amelie Lens - a Belgian DJane - she belongs to the new generation of female turntable heroes that fascinate their audience. While in the past this scene was dominated my male artists we now have a lot upcoming female talents that actually can mix and make thousands of party people dance. Within Corona a difficult one, without Corona perfect line-up for event organizers - Amelie plays all the huge Techno events such as Tomorrowland, Time Warp etc. and from home:
But who is she?
Amelie is not only DJ but also owner of her record label. At the Hasselt’s Labyrinth Club she is famous with her own EXHALE nights now also abroad eg. in London. @detlev have you met her in Belgium?
Her background and how she discovered her way towards electronic music is what makes me like her even more. She used to like sounds from Nine Inch Nails, Underworld, Boys Noize and Ellen Allien in her youngers years and got infected by electronic music following a visit to Dour Festival back 15 years ago. Like myself she was visiting one huge event, loved it, got into it and finally was addicted. She even started reading about the history of electronic music and discovered so many new artists and labels. -similar to what I do here on Hive actually. After a first career in fashion she decided to stop that and move into music business! Her frist DJ name was Renée, playing mostly bass-heavy minimal techno, earning a residency at the Labyrinth Club in Hasselt, Belgium and then got recognized by the big Techno folks. Her style is not easy to define - let us say a mix of classic acid, high energy techno and some tribal house sounds.
