D-Hive: A Decentralised Social Platform for Developers

INTRODUCTION

My name is Utkarsh Batra and I along with my hackmates are building a developer-specific social media D-Hive that helps connect people around the globe on a single platform where they can connect and build amazing projects.

My team 100xEngineers consists of 4 amazing developers-Aman Tiwari, Shobhit Tiwari, Ansh Doshi and me. We all are undergrads and are currently pursuing Bachelors in Technology from Delhi Technological University. We got to know about Hive while applying for Vihaan007.

D-Hive helps developers working on similar tech stacks and frameworks to connect with each other. So there is no need for developers to search other developers on LinkedIn. It is a one-stop solution for developers where they can chat, exchange ideas, and meet new developer friends.
D-Hive is a decentralized platform that offers free speech, data privacy, and immutability to all its users to ensure transparency.

We have implemented our platform through Hive Blockchain which made it easy for us to build such a user-friendly and creative platform. The FEATURES which we implemented on our platform include:

• Authentication and Login: D-Hive helps developers log in through their Hive account and use our social media platform without any additional account creation. We have implemented this feature using Hive Keychain Technology

• Profile Creation:D-Hive helps developers create their profiles where they can add the tech stacks and frameworks they know and get listed on our platform. We have also added search suggestions to make it easy for developers to add their tech stacks efficiently and effortlessly.

• Developer Matching: It is our key feature where D-Hive helps developers meet with new developers who are working on similar frameworks and tech stacks. D-Hive also indicates percentage matching based on our algorithm with suggested developers to ease their process of finding their perfect developer match. (If a developer has 6/10 known tech stacks similar to another developer, the percentage matching will be 60%)

• Create Posts: Developers can create posts on D-Hive which would be uploaded on Hive Blockchain and people can see those posts using any Hive-based social media and interact with them.

• Fetch Posts: D-Hive fetches posts directly from Hive Blockchain and shows them on our home community page. This creates engagement for developers to use D-Hive.

As shown in the image below, the top post is fetched directly from the Hive Blockchain and is the one that our team 100xEngineers posted during Vihaan007(hackathon)

• Chat: D-Hive allows developers to chat with their matched developers so that they can collaborate and build incredible projects.

• POST UPVOTING: D-Hive allows its users to upvote a post they like. Experienced users can change the weightage of likes if they find the post useful and want to spread the post so that the probability of other developers reading the post is likely.

IMPACT ON SOCIETY

D-Hive has a huge impact on society as it will change the way developers communicate with each other. There will be close relations among developers around the globe which will help create projects and applications faster and efficiently which will lead to efficient development in all parts of the world.

WINNING POTENTIAL

Our project D-Hive has winning potential because currently there is no other platform available that is dedicated to developers. This is a huge gap in our modern-day world where every app is created by developers but no app is dedicated for our dear developers. Let's support this idea as supporting this idea is indirectly supporting our developers :)
