I was flushed with anger, threw my paper onto the table of Sir Awais. '' Sir! You have given me just passing marks. Look at my attempt!, and look at the numerous lines and quotes from Shakespeare, Lamb, Keats....'' I said in a slightly disrespectful tone.
He silently took the paper from the table, looked straight into my eyes, corrected his delicate glasses on his nose with a finger and said. '' Ok, I will check it again''.
The next day, I received my paper with marks unchanged but with a note written digonally on the last page with a red ink, as; '' From Milton to Lamb, every great writer was present, but only you were missing.
Take it this way; you are a maali or gardener in the making. If all your life long, you describe great gardens with exquisite fine shaddy trees and colourful flowers, the names of all the time great gardeners, their outstanding skills, cares and techniques but unwilling to plant your own tree, how will it sound?. Come on man, grow your own tiny plant.''
