I would stack content on the same topic and bundle it under the recommended section on the content page. So people can read more from more sources and don't need to trust some point system.

IMO it is impossible to rate it in a trustworthy way. And if it's trustworthy, people will start to game the system.

The only way it would add trust if, for example, a community builds a reputation they are trustworthy. With SMTs this can add some more trust and not the only rewarding.
