Today I went for a walk in beautiful autumn weather. The old Soviet paving slabs beneath my feet were strewn with yellow leaves. It had always been that way for as long as I had lived there; throughout the many years since my birth, those concrete slabs would be covered in yellow leaves every October.
These trees turned green in the spring and yellow in the autumn. The eternal cycle of life in nature. I’m getting close to the age where I’m ready to shed a few leaves myself :)
Today, I walked to that graffiti-covered building to drop off old notebook pages and magazines for recycling. I turned in 5 kilograms of paper waste and received $0.25 for it. You can buy a whole kilogram of potatoes for that amount. It’s interesting that 40 years ago, in 1986, 5 kilograms of waste paper would also buy you a kilogram of potatoes—there is something constant in this world :)
October is also a great time for a walk in this park and a chance to breathe in the autumn air in cool weather (around 10 degrees Celsius).
And what a pleasure it is to admire the beauty of autumn in my garden. What magnificent cosmos—flowers from my early childhood.
