It's an issue that caught my attention because I have a son at the age of two and I want to encourage him to know his skills and I found valuable information about how to do it in a fun way.
Motricity is the capacity that we started to generate from children making movements by themselves. There must be adequate coordination and synchronization between all the structures involved in the movement (nervous system, sense organs, among others).
With the word motor we refer to the coordinated movements that a person makes involving the locomotor system, which are coordinated by the cerebral cortex.
Within the motor skills there are two types:
1- The Fine Motor.
2- The gross motor.
The gross motor: They are the largest movements that are made with the arms, legs, feet, or your whole body. Such as dragging, running and jumping are the gross motor skills.
Fine motor skills: These are the smallest actions. When you take things between the index finger and the thumb, or twist your feet in the sand, there you are using your fine motor skills. But it's not just about the fingers and toes. When we use the lips and tongue to taste and feel; We are using fine motor skills.
Note: When babies are newborns, their brain is not mature enough to control movement. The development starts in the head, and then it goes to your body. So the newborn baby can control his mouth, face, lips, tongue, and the rest follows in time. The baby learns to control his neck before his shoulders and shoulders before his back.
THE SKILLS OF FINE MOTOR.
The development of fine motor skills begins very early in childhood, when at eight weeks of age, children discover their hands and begin to play with them. However, the true development comes a little later, at about two to four months, when eye-hand coordination begins to develop. One of the first important milestones in fine motor skills for babies is when they are able to grab an object at their fingertips using only their sight to guide themselves.
THE SKILLS OF GROSS MOTORCYCLE.
The development of gross motor skills also begins early on when babies begin to lift their heads and shoulders, although most of the development occurs during a short period of time during childhood. The development of gross motor skills is linked to the way in which the body grows from top to bottom, starting with the brain and moving downwards, from the trunk to the extremities, which is the control of passage over the body that is acquired beginning with the control of the head.
Note: To encourage the development of gross motor skills, children need open and safe play spaces, peers to play, guidance and encouragement from the adults around them.
