The Chinese oil company PetroChina has discovered a huge oil field in the west of the country.
According to experts, the reserves of the deposit located in the Dzungar pit near lake Ma Xinjiang-Uyghur Autonomous Region may be about 1.2 billion tons, although earlier it was believed that the oil reserves here were no more than 520 million tons, Xinhua reports.
However, the geologist of the company Tan Yong noted that in this region there are all natural conditions for asserting about oil reserves of more than one billion tons.
It is noted that the discovered deposit is much larger than the oil reserves in the American Hemlock and the Brazilian oil and gas basin of the Campus in the Atlantic Ocean.
