If there is one thing I understand with God is that He wants us to do the same thing which He would or has already done for us. For instance, God blesses us and He does it with the expectation that we do it to others. Another instance is about the parable of a King who relieved someone off his debts and expected the person to do so to others. But instead he refused to let go of his debtor, despite the fact that what the debtor owed him was way lesser than what He owed the King.
That is the case with many people today. Some people refuse to let go of minor things that people did to them, however, God has forgiven them of their own sins. Most times, the sins that were forgiven of them by God were much greater than the little offenses of people that they are not willing to let go. We should be able to forgive under any circumstances.
Jesus taught us about forgiveness in Matthew 18:21-22;
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.
There is no offense that is too big to be forgiven. And there are no limits to the number of times we can forgive. I learned this when I came across the passage where Jesus was been persecuted and nailed to the cross. This was what He said to His father concerning the people who did this to Him:
Luke 23:34: Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
We should learn to forgive no matter what.
