Eating animals is far simpler than eating plants since the animals have done the ‘hard work’ of consuming plants and you are coming along and effectively stealing their labour for your own benefit. There are only so many forms of animal and taking nutrients from them is straightforward. Accessing the needed nutrients from plants requires a higher level of awareness and understanding, since there are so many plants and so many ways to utilise their qualities. Jumping to the conclusion that ‘we need to eat animals’ is pretty much always another way of saying ‘I haven’t learned enough about myself and plants yet to open enough doorways to reach a state of being where I am fully capable of feeling safe and healthy only eating plants’. I have met various people who claim that they 'must' eat dead animals, but zero of them have even demonstrated more than a very basic understanding of the biochemical mechanisms involved or the range of plants available. If you try to live on lettuce and bananas only after having been on a standard diet, you will probably not get on very well.
Each belief we hold (most of them are sub conscious and beyond the reach of the light of consciousness until we process enough of our blockages and issues to reach them) can affect directly our senses, including taste, satiation and those relating to digestion, hunger and health generally. Holding ANY rigid beliefs, such as ‘I must eat meat’ or ‘I must take this drug to feel good’ will play a role in holding the experiences in place which seem to reinforce the pattern that is being used to justify the belief. In other words, if you hold beliefs that you refuse to change then you will get stuck in the results of those beliefs indefinitely (which include biomechanical effects in the body). This area of understanding covers a large part of why humanity is in such a perilous situation and also why creatures have been stuck in dysfunctional and heartless patterns of abusing each other through violence and eating that leads to the creation of death. Reality is shaped by thinking that is held in place through will. The will expresses through feelings and if those feelings are not given acceptance we cannot change. Denial of emotionality is behind both the massive limiting of evolution (to the point that people sometimes think evolution doesn't even exist) and also the spectrum of normalised psychopathy that most people are on and, in fact, often call 'natural'.
Saying that you know something does not mean that your thoughts are actual knowing, they can still be beliefs that you are not recognising due to denials that limit the scope of the processing that has led to the belief being formed. It’s great to dispose of all beliefs, since they are always errors to some extent, however, it is critical to appreciate our blindspots and closed mindedness wherever we decide that we know something instead of acknowledging that there are gaps which mean we hold beliefs that we are not yet acknowledging (and feeling into).
The idea that ‘I have free will and therefore it’s ok if I kill and eat creatures’ is a denial of the nature of free will and of the will herself. The will that moves in people also moves in animals. You cannot deny the will in another creature and still enjoy full free will – the denial in the will of the other impacts you too – you just haven’t been able to feel it because your will is so undermined that you lack empathy and deep feelings in general. Life is a continuum of which we are a part, but we don't get to separate from everything else just because we think we are separate.
Laws are that which CANNOT be broken. Human made rules can be broken and thus are not real laws. Nature relates to ‘that which is birthed’, hence the word ‘nature’ is related to ‘natir’ in French (birth). So in simple terms ‘Natural Law’ means ‘that which cannot be changed about birth’. The main problem with defining what this actually is, is that each individual has had their own experiences and their own levels of limitation which they are likely to continue to impose on a general perception of what is possible for everyone.
The idea that ‘it’s true for me and so it’s true for everyone’ is very clearly nonsensical and anyone can understand this through minimal analysis, however, many people refuse to do so. Ultimately, no-one can really know what cannot be changed about birth (natural law), unless they not only know all of the causes and decisions made during the ‘historic’ manifestation of the universe, but also recall their role in it all. VERY FEW people even come close to achieving any of this and so almost no-one is capable of doing anything other than theorising and sharing opinions about what natural law is.
Hint: Starting from a perspective that infinite parallel realities (can) exist unless proven otherwise is the only purely logical and ethical approach to such a vast topic without truly knowing what the unchangeable limitations actually are.
