[#50100] Grammar police here. I would like to point out that our beloved phrase in biology, mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, is in fact grammatically incorrect. Mitochondria is the plural form of mitochondrion from Ancient Greek ????? (mtos, thread) ???????? (khondron), diminutive of ??????? (khndros, grain, morsel). Therefore, the phrase should correctly be, mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell. Have a good day.
