The pace of leveling up cards is gradually slowing down because the number of copies required to reach the next level increases as the level rises. While I have managed to upgrade some cards in my deck to Level 4, there are still many that remain at Level 1. Since the number of required copies increases at higher levels, I have started spending more 'Glint' on Common and Rare draws each season; my goal is to upgrade as many of my favorite cards as possible to their maximum levels before the next card set arrives. In line with this, I upgraded three of my Rare cards to Level 3 today.
The first card here is 'Surgehammer,' a melee attack card of the Water element from the Djinn Bloodline set. The only change between Level 2 and Level 3 is a +1 Health boost; while a +1 Melee Attack boost would have been great, the Health upgrade is also beneficial. This is particularly useful given its two abilities: 'Flying' helps evade 25% of incoming melee attacks, providing a layer of defense, while 'Opportunity' allows it to target the weakest card in the enemy lineup, dealing significant damage. Beyond Health, it also has 1 Armor for added protection and a Speed โโof 3, making it quite agile. Overall, it is a solid card, though it isn't usually my first choice since I have better options in my deck; however, every card proves useful depending on the situation.
The next card is the Life element's "Saltwraith Bulkhead." It is another melee card from the Tideborn Bloodline, notable for its impressive speed, armor, and attack powerโstats that are excellent for a 7-mana cost card and prove their worth on the battlefield. However, its "Weary" ability somewhat hinders its performance; starting from the first round, there is a 10% chance of the card becoming "Exhausted," a probability that increases by another 10% each round. Consequently, there are battles where this card simply stands in the lineup like a dummy, making it unwise to rely solely on it for combat. At Level 3, the card gains the "Oppress" ability, allowing it to strike enemy "No-Attack" cards with double powerโa fantastic feature. To illustrate its impact: if this card attacks an enemy "No-Attack" unit, the damage dealt is 4 + 4 = 8 melee damage; if the target lacks armor, there is a strong likelihood of it being knocked out in a single hit. So it's great!
Today's featured card is the 'Mindless Thrall' from the Grey elementโa magic attack card belonging to the Undead bloodline. Personally, I felt this card really needed a boost in health and armor, as it seemed somewhat vulnerable in those areas; with 5 health and no armor, it becomes an easy target for enemies possessing the 'Opportunity' ability. While an increase in health and armor would have been ideal, the actual upgrade is impressive: its magic attack power has risen from +1 to 3. A magic attack power of 3, combined with an above-average speed of 5, gives the card the freedom to launch attacks for at least 1 or 2 rounds. To protect it from enemies with the 'Opportunity' ability, I plan to include a card with 'Taunt' or 'Decoy' in the team, or perhaps find a way to provide this card with extra health. I will certainly share any updates to my strategy and the resulting impact with you.
Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!๐ฅ
