Over the past 15 days, I’ve shared with you almost all my experiences—both good and bad—from this season. Before purchasing the Wild Pass last season, I had played almost exclusively in the Modern format; I was comfortable and enjoying myself there, but then some players suggested I try Wild. I had only heard about the Wild mode before—and while hearing about it was enough to spark excitement, I used to hold myself back, telling myself I wasn't yet skilled enough to battle in the perilous wilds of that mode and needed more practice. But last season, I convinced myself to take the plunge and jumped into the Wild jungle of Splinterlands without overthinking it. To be honest, I enjoyed it far more than I had anticipated; although I had to pay a steep price for it, the fun I experienced was truly unmatched.
I played around 300 battles this entire season, with about 200 of them in Wild mode; since I had purchased the Wild Pass, I wanted to make the most of it. I dedicated over ten days of focused effort solely to Wild battles and genuinely enjoyed the experience. However, I realized that winning in Wild earned me less than half the Glint compared to Modern—ironic, given that the potential for higher earnings was one of the main reasons I chose Wild in the first place. Some pro players had claimed I could earn far more Glint in Wild than in Modern, but my experience was the exact opposite, which left me quite disappointed. I spent the final few days playing Modern just to scrape together some Glint; otherwise, I felt I wouldn't have earned enough this season to purchase even a single Legendary Draw. That said, looking at my Glint wallet after the season-end report, I feel a unique sense of joy and surprise. Including the season-end rewards, I earned over 150k Glint in total. While this is still less than what I was led to expect from Wild, it is an impressive achievement—especially considering that most players use bots to earn that kind of amount in Wild, whereas I played the entire season relying solely on my own wits and strategies. That, to me, is something truly worth celebrating.
And the amazing thing is that my performance has been excellent even without using a bot. Just look at the thumbnail of this post: a 52.83% win rate in Modern and—surprisingly—a 55.71% win rate in Wild, along with a 3rd place ranking on the leaderboard. I never even imagined in my wildest dreams that I’d be in the top 3 on the leaderboard. For some reason, I’m not showing up on the Wild leaderboard, but I achieved a maximum win streak of 12 battles—something I’ve never managed to do in Modern, haha—especially since I initially felt I wasn't ready for the Wild mode. However, as I mentioned earlier, I spent around 10k Glint on this Wild experience; competing against "Ultra Wild" pro players requires powerful cards—the kind that even a player with 2–3 years of experience wouldn't typically own, given that they belong to older Splinterlands card sets. So, I rented many of them and worked on some solid strategies. In doing so, I discovered so many unique, amazing, and powerful Splinterlands cards and explored synergies between them that I hadn't even imagined before. Truly, it was an incredible experience.
I did briefly consider whether I was willing to spend tens of thousands of DEC every season, but then a voice from within told me not to worry about future seasons—it’s about the present, and I want to give the Wild season another shot. So, without delay, I transferred all the DEC sitting in my #HiveEngine wallet into the game today and purchased the Wild Pass. Tomorrow, I’ll set out to rent a bunch of cards again, aiming to avoid the mistake of picking up useless ones like I did last time; instead, I’ll focus my spending solely on the best possible cards. Who knows—maybe I’ll discover even better cards and synergies this season. And yes, I’ll also help you build a better Wild deck on a budget this time, as I’ve decided to limit my spending while constructing my team. Let’s see how it all plays out.
