I never purchased any 'Epic Draws' for the Arcana setβwhich is currently part of the reward systemβso my deck contains cards of every rarity except Epic; in fact, many of them have already been upgraded to Level 4. Essentially, I am building my deck using cards of all raritiesβincluding Legendaryβwhile bypassing the Epic tier. There isn't a specific reason for this, other than the fact that I rarely come across Epic cards that truly impress me. When I compare cards based on their powers and stats, I feel that very few Epic cards actually justify their rarity. Based on this understanding, I decided to skip Epics and focus on other rarities for my deck. However, you don't have this choice with the Gladiator set; when you purchase a Gladius Case, you receive a random assortment of cards where Common cards are the most frequent and Legendary cards are the rarest. Consequently, I have managed to collect only five Epic cards from that set so far, and all of them are 'Ultimate' cards. I get a real thrill whenever one of them levels up, and today is one of those happy moments.
The card I leveled up today falls into a moderate cost category; you certainly couldn't call it cheap, but it isn't excessively expensive either. Edith Emberstar, an Epic card of the Water element, comes with a formidable 4 ranged attack power and 7 health pointsβwhich is considered a solid amount of health. It also boasts a speed of 3 (above average) and, last but not least, the 'Bloodlust' ability; this ability boosts all the card's stats by +1 whenever it knocks out an opponent, making it even more powerful. That covers its Level 1 stats. When upgrading it to Level 2, I was hoping for at least two improvementsβperhaps +1 armor and +1 health or speed, or maybe even a special ability. I expected this because Epic and Legendary cards often see two stats upgraded simultaneously. However, the card designers had other plans; instead of two upgrades, the card received only one: its ranged attack power increased by +1, bringing it to 5. While this is certainly a great upgrade, the card really deserves some armor; without it, the health is directly exposed to attacks, which is a disadvantage for any card. Hopefully, that particular wish of mine will be fulfilled in the next level, even if it didn't happen in this one.
Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!π₯
