After the end of the last season, I had accumulated around 130,000 Glint. Initially, I focused entirely on Legendary cards, purchasing only Legendary Draws; however, after playing two seasons in the Wild format, I realized that many Common and Rare cards become incredibly powerful when upgraded to higher levels—so much so that, if used strategically, they can outperform even many Legendary cards. Since I joined Splinterlands during the Arcana set, I don't own cards from older sets, but I have the opportunity to collect as many cards as possible from the current set's reward system and upgrade them to the highest possible levels. Consequently, I now allocate my Glint earnings to add cards of various rarities to my deck. As part of this process, I spent the largest portion of my Glint rewards today on a Legendary Draw costing 70,000 Glint. Additionally, I purchased 25 Alchemy Potions to open it, costing me another 2,475 Glint (99 x 25). Although I’ve never really seen a tangible benefit from using Alchemy Potions, I still use them every time as part of the routine, knowing that pulling a Gold card is ultimately a game of luck.
So far, I have obtained a total of eight Legendary cards; one is already upgraded to Level 2, and I had acquired two copies each of three others. Frankly, I was hoping to pull another copy of one of those cards for which I already had a pair, so I could upgrade another card to Level 2. However, that didn't happen; instead, I received "Savaketh," a Death-element card with a magic attack. Since I already owned one copy of this card, I now have two copies of it as well. In total, I now have four cards for which I hold two copies each, meaning that if I pull another copy of any of them in the next round, I’ll be able to upgrade that card to Level 2. Regarding this specific card: even at Level 1, it boasts 2 magic attack power, 10 health points, 1 armor, and 3 speed points—which is excellent. However, upon reaching Level 3, it gains a new ability called "Redemption," which deals 1 physical damage to every card on the opposing team when this card is knocked out. So, while this new copy doesn't provide an immediate benefit—since the card still counts as Level 1—it has brought the card very close to reaching Level 2. Hopefully, in the next season, I will successfully upgrade either this card or one of the other Legendary cards in my deck to Level 2.
Based on this analysis, I am certain for now that I do not want to play in Wild mode. The reason isn't just the cost; after playing two seasons in Wild, I’ve realized that most opponents possess cards that are far superior and at much higher levels than mine. To beat them, you would either need to rent similarly powerful, high-level cards—which would be very expensive, as we are talking about an entire deck of quality cards capable of handling any situation, not just a few good ones—or face constant defeat. Losing repeatedly wouldn't be fun and would only lead to frustration. So, what is the alternative? Well, I believe—and this is exactly what I plan to do—that I should first stock my deck with the best, highest-level cards possible. Even if I don't own cards from older sets, I will at least have a full range of cards from the new 'Conclave Arcana' set upgraded to the maximum level. If I do decide to play Wild later, I might only need to rent a few specific cards from older sets. This approach will improve my in-game performance while keeping costs down.
Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!🔥
