As some of you know from my introduction I'm an underground miner. Hence, my handle @undergroundman. So I thought I'd show you a few pictures of my world and some of my toys.
Each day starts off with a cage ride( like a very big industrial elevator), that takes us from surface to 3500 feet under the surface of the earth. Were we recieve our shift instructions. We then get into one of the Toyota personnel trucks ( pictured above) and head out to our respective work areas.
These mining areas can be as far as 18 miles from the mine shaft . The travelways are big enough for two trucks to pass one another and have a higher in most cases of 12 feet. ![IMG_6481.JPG](
We are mining potash. The machine pictured above is called a borer. It's capable of cutting into the potash rock seams at a rate of about 20-30 meters an hour. Producing about 400 tons of raw ore in that hour.
The photo above kinda shows how the miner bores into the face of the rock and the ore is delivered through a series of conveyors all the way to the mine shaft were it is hoisted to surface.
After ore comes to surface it's milled into a final product that is used for fertilizer. It's distributed to markets all over the world.
I hope you've enjoyed this and feel free to follow me @ undergroundman. Please upvote and if I get a positive response I might share more about my career. Thanks for checkng it out. Happy Steeming
