Hey Steemers I put together a video awhile ago to show how I get rid of mean queens. I have little kids that play just 30 ft from these hives and I had a queen that had to go so I could change the genetics.
Please excuse the video quality but you will get the idea.
What I did was I busted up my mean hive into separate boxes to divide and conquer trying to dig through one big hive is often futile ......So I busted them up went to church and came back to find my queen. As a side note had I waited a few hrs longer, it would have went a lot smoother but you notice it did help a little, I didn't have the roamers attacking everything like the camera like in previous videos I've done. Also, you'll notice in the video that I say "the box is roaring so I will look in it last", this is typically because that is the box that hasn't had the queen in the longest, but in this case due to time constraints and the short amount of time before I returned this box was roaring because they were trying to tell everyone " hey here is our queen" Had I not been in somewhat of a hurry I would have noticed this difference. Don't be in a hurry on this step if you have the time, but them up wait 48 hrs and then it is easy the box without queen cells started has your queen. Hope you enjoy this video
