I just got home after a long day out of town. We as a family went on a business trip to Kabanjahe City. Kabanjahe is the capital of the Karo district which is part of the province of North Sumatra. The distance from my house to the destination is about 110 kilometers and our journey takes 3.5 hours because the roads are congested with vehicles. After business was done, we decided to rest at one of the restaurants located in the city of Kabanjahe. I took the initiative to choose a restaurant that suits my taste. Some of my friends recommended a typical Javanese restaurant, Maspon Restaurant.
This restaurant is located on Jalan Jamin Ginting, Kota Kabanjahe, right on the edge of the highway, so this restaurant is easy to find. When viewed from the outside of the restaurant, the architecture of this restaurant is less attractive, because it is in the form of a shophouse. This restaurant is located in a row of shophouses on Jalan Jamin Ginting.

Exterior Design
In front of the restaurant there is a fairly large parking lot and easy to reach because it is located on the side of the highway.
The design of the restaurant also doesn't catch my attention, there is only a large glass setting that serves to put the menu and some dishes are visible in the front of the restaurant.
INSIDE ROOM DESIGN
I wondered how the design in the restaurant was, so some friends recommended this restaurant to me. But after entering the restaurant, I was immediately attracted by the restaurant's "Javanese" style design. In general, Javanese-style restaurants have a seating design in the form of "lesehan". Lesehan is sitting on the floor with a mat or carpet and there is a dining table where you can put your food. I will start by telling about the design of the room with Javanese customs in the Maspon restaurant. To the right of the entrance there is a reception desk that serves to receive orders from visitors. But visitors can also order after finding a table that suits the needs of visitors, the waiter will bring a menu book for visitors. After entering the restaurant room, it turns out that the restaurant owner has succeeded in designing a narrow space so that it looks wider.
To the left of the entrance there is a cash register. The cashier's desk is located opposite the reception desk on the right. In the middle of the two there is an entrance to the restaurant room.
The architecture of the room looks modern with several pillars made of decorative bricks with tiled floors. The color of the bricks looks in harmony with the tables and chairs in the room.
On the left there are rows of chairs and a dining table made of polished teak wood.
On one of the walls there is a painting of the Maspon restaurant logo, this is an amazing design, to understand this painting we must pay attention to the details contained in the painting.
We are looking for a seat with a lesehan style so that the children feel comfortable. We were directed to enter the interior of the restaurant. There is a restaurant nameplate that connects the first room with the second room.
In the second room there are many lesehan-style seats. We chose a seat near the indoor "mini waterfall". It looks like enjoying an afternoon meal by listening to the sound of the gurgling water will be fun.
Besides the mini waterfall there is a minimalist fish pond, this room is suitable for visitors who bring children. On the walls there are also paintings with motifs suitable for children.
While waiting for the order to arrive, Rais and I looked at the designs in the room. Right across from our seats, there is a special room for making drinks such as juice, coffee and others.
On a wall there is a decoration in the form of a menu at the Maspon restaurant.
On another wall, I see photos of some world famous figures like Einstein.
It turned out that at the back of the restaurant there was another room which was bigger. Said who owns the restaurant, this room is a meeting room that can accommodate about 60 diners.
In front of the meeting room, there is a prayer room (musholla) and several bathrooms.
While on the 2nd floor there is a storage warehouse and several rooms for employees who come from outside the city to live.
In the room there is no air conditioning / air conditioning, but the air in the room feels cool. The architecture of the building in the room with lots of ventilation makes the room feel cool. Interior design with the dominance of wood and bamboo also affects the air temperature in the room. This is an interesting combination. The restaurant owner managed to design a restaurant that is in the middle of the city and brings a rural atmosphere to the restaurant. I also like the design of the lamp, it looks unique with a bamboo container as a lamp holder
"DON'T JUDGE A BOOK ONLY BY THE COVER" I think this is the right word to describe the stunning architecture and design of Maspon Restaurant which is Javanese style. When viewed from the outside the room looks less attractive, but after entering the restaurant, there is a charming interior design.
Thank you for reading my post about the architecture and design of Maspon Restaurant which has an urban exterior architecture but with a charming and comfortable rustic interior design.
Best Regards
