I happened to attend a conference last week in Dubai, where a new startup called 'Vimana' participated.
The founder and CEO gave a detailed presentation on the imminent use of flying taxis. The cab looks like a mini helicopter, and interestingly it would be operating on the Blockchain technology.
No special helipads are required. It can simply take off and land on the top of the building, provided there is an ample space for it.
They mentioned that it would up and running in the market officially in 2 to 3 years time.
However, they are working on launching them early as the other competitors have a better and ambitious target for the launch.
