I’m wifh you on the rules. I have a big resistance to be penned in or told what to do. I don’t think it helps society evolve either as it keeps people like children not learning to take responsibility and almost wanting to break rules just to feel free. As a teenager I was one of the first to be allowed to drink an go clubing. Rather than make me go off the rails I think I only got super drunk from alcohol twice throughout 4 years of university, never had casual sex and never tried drugs. Even if everyone around me was doing that, I just never had any desire really. I remember at school if I went clubbing the one rule my parents gave me was, just tell us where you are: this was pre mobile phones and I would actually use a pay phone to tell them if we decided to go to a differnt place. I think giving people freedom generally makes them respect you more. All my friends went out anyways they just lied to their parents about being at sleep overs whilst my parents got to know exactly where I was at all times as I felt more than happy to give them that respect in return.
