Honestly, one of the hardest questions people ask is, “Why is there so much evil in the world?” When we look around wars, corruption, violence, heartbreak it can feel overwhelming. But the Bible gives us a clear starting point: it all began with disobedience in the Garden of Eden. In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve chose to listen to the serpent instead of God, and that single choice brought sin and death into the world.

Romans 5:12 puts it plainly: “Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.”

So the evil we see today is a ripple effect of that first fall.

At the same time, it’s comforting to know that God didn’t create evil He created free will. And with that freedom comes the ability to choose wrong over right. God doesn’t force us to obey Him; He wants us to choose Him willingly. That’s why evil still exists not because God is distant or uncaring, but because He's patient.

2 Peter 3:9 reminds us, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise... He is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

God gives space for people to change, even in a broken world.

In the end, I find peace knowing that the Bible doesn’t just leave us in the middle of chaos. It promises a future where evil is defeated once and for all. Revelation 21:4 says God will wipe away every tear and there will be no more death, mourning, or pain. Until that day, we’re called to be different to be a light in the darkness, to stand for truth, and to love like Christ. Even when evil surrounds us, God is still in control, and His justice will prevail.
