This is obviously a minority opinion but... in all honesty, I'm fairly happy getting by for free with just the YouTube content. There are so many different highlights and radio clips and other clips that I honestly don't feel like I'm missing out. I watched the Italian GP live last weekend at a friend's house (my second time watching a live GP), and if I'm honest, I don't think I had that much better of a time watching it live than I would have if all I had were the highlight videos. To be clear, the narrative was thrilling - watching live as McLaren did so well was a treat - but aside from that... honestly, I just can't justify subbing to F1TV in the future if I know that - for me - there's not that much of a difference in watching it live.
Do I have a short attention span? Yes. (Officially so, even.) And it's not just F1 for which I tend to prefer condensed-"game" videos if they're done well; the NHL comes to mind as well. But that said, I almost feel like F1 is shooting itself in the foot with how good their production value is on their YouTube content. It's so good that - in my opinion - it legitimately competes with their paid content.
Hell, there's stuff that gets posted to YouTube that you can't get if all you watch is the paid content. The "Every Driver's Radio At The End Of Their Race" videos, for example - I think, watching live on the Sky feed, I think they just played Riccardo's, Norris's, and Bottas's radio? I love getting all the extra behind-the-scenes stuff, and I still ended up watching all of the YT videos as I normally would in order to get that stuff.
