The horoscope is a method of prediction based on the position of certain influential stars at the time of our birth (date and time).
According to this practice, our personality traits and even the events that the future holds for us were encrypted in the position of the star when we were born. There are many aspects to understanding how the horoscope works. Let’s look at them.
The Zodiac
The horoscope only considers a certain region of the sky – specifically – what we know as the Zodiac (zoo, animal; diakós, path). The Zodiac, or zodiacal band, is a portion of the night sky.
The entire celestial sphere is divided into 88 portions called constellations; each point and each star would be within a single constellation. The constellations of the zodiac are periodically visited by the Sun.
** The Sun**
The Sun is the King Astro, the one that will have the most influence on us. For the horoscope, it is fundamental to know in which of these constellations the Sun was at the moment of birth.
For example, if the Sun was in front of the constellation Taurus at the time of our birth, the King Star is going to be impregnated with the attributes of the Bull; therefore, these attributes are going to permeate our existence forever because “we are Taurus”. Although the Sun passes through all the constellations of the zodiac, the distance (angular path) it travels within each one of them is different.
Horoscope: Astrological Vs. Astronomical
If the speed of the Sun in the sky is constant (the speed of translation of the Earth around the Sun is constant), it follows that the Sun is not a month in each constellation (sign), but the duration of each sign is variable.
It is observed that the traditional (astrological) horoscope is divided into 12 signs, where almost all the signs have a duration of 31 days (one month) except some, to end up adding the 365 days of a non-leap year.
However, when we analyze on which day the Sun enters a new constellation and on which day it rises (astronomical horoscope), we observe that the distribution of days is not at all equitable. For example, the sign of Taurus lasts 38 days, while Aquarius lasts 24 days. It is more likely to be Virgo (45 days a year) than Scorpio (6 days a year).

The horoscope acts in people’s lives as a way to channel energies and to develop in every situation that manifests itself. The data provided by the horoscope determines the lens through which each individual observes the world, which is written from the moment of birth.
