The forest has reclaimed
A glory once proclaimed.
A heavy darkness clings
In silent victory
To walls that housed
A short-lived history
Of Strength to Ignorance, espoused.
And all of Nature sings
Again a mournful tune:
As other time-lost nations
From firm material hewn,
This, too, found weak foundations.
And the sorrows, sighs and joys of those
Are echoes which a sad wind blows...
