I always see the sun as the king, as far as nature is concerned. This is because it's constant and influences everything we find in nature. Once I think of nature, I think of the sun. It's awesome to consider the journey of the sun from its rising to setting.
The rising is gradual; it rises to a crescendo, and begins to set gradually. As it rises in the morning, it gathers force, reaching a peak in the afternoon, and its influence begins to wane in the evening, until it goes into hiding in the night, to reappear again next morning. On and on it goes without fail.
It was on 30th of April, this 2022 that I went to see the progress of work in Ozuitem Secondary School, Abia State, Nigeria where my Old Students' Association was carrying out a renovation project. It was in the evening, around 6:00pm.
I was fascinated as usual by the setting of the sun at that time, and took some pictures.
I began to reflect on the sun, and started to think that the setting of the sun represents when the sun is going for a rest after the day's work. It means that for it to be fit to start another day's work, it needs to have a rest. This is where the lesson comes from.
For us to be fit to continue our work everyday, we need some rest. If you work, and work without a rest, you will not be able to continue with your work. Rest is therefore important in our life. That's what nature, in the
sun is teaching us.
For some of us who are workaholics, the sun is saying, "Take time to rest, and even reflect on your activities so as to be able to continue working."
It's obvious that workaholism is neither healthy nor makes for efficiency. It's not even productive as such in the long run because if you break down, the apparent gain you think you made may not be enough to handle the medical issue emanating from the health problem.
