I know this is a Beta, but this site is not good. Actually, it kind of sucks. Not only does it have a serious culture problem, it's riddled with annoyances. I'm always reading about potentially awesome fixes from the community in comments, but the development team only chimes in to defend the status quo and troll the critics. Meanwhile, they don't mention anything useful (even in PR terms) to the community supporting them. They just troll the comment sections of any post with a headline that is unflattering and/or might show up in search engine results.
If Developers don't want community members blogging about how much this place sucks, and the lack of any helpful responses, how about actually addressing the community? I had read a ton of criticism about this platform before looking into it for myself, and while I think a lot of what I read is slightly over-stated, it all seems pretty valid:
On-boarding Issues
Lack of Quality Content
Quality Content Suppression
Whale Censorship and the percentage of Whales on here that are just Morons who signed up early
Petty Complaints Amongst Users
The Promotion of Whack Content (for monetary gain)
The Circle-Jerk is Real and Pathetic
Log-In Issues, which have enabled Phishers to succeed (since the Log-In issues are so prevalent that it's hard to know if Steem is really asking for your credentials)
Plagiarism
Social Justice Warriors that Flag for Flagging's sake
Fake Politeness due to the Flagging and Downvote system, which seems to have castrated the Reddit users on this site
Bots
Attempting to Fix Bot-related problems with more Bots
I've come to learn that this is a system for Bots, and not people. If you're good at coding and deploying Bots, maybe this will be a good place for you. You'll be able to draw away value from some of the quality content that'll wander on here by hopefuls in their early days.
I read a legit comment earlier, and saw a so-called "Dev" hate on the comment, which I totally agreed with. It was a disgusting form of bullying, and it was effective. I'd link to it, but I don't want that type of direct hate. But it definitely cause a Marked Change of Sentiment towards this place, and now I can't wait for a new blockchain to completely replace this failed experiment; because the initial idea ha(d)/(s) enormous merit. I think you just lost my devotion, though, Steem. I'll continue to be a participant, but not a supporter.
PS I'd like to see a message from the Steem Development Team apologizing for being such assholes to certain individuals, or the community at large for offering suggestions on how to improve this place. Maybe that would change my perspective.
