I chose three months because I was counting September, October, and November, since I was thinking about powering it up on the December 1st HPUD. I could technically wait another month, then power it up on the January HPUD, but I'd just have to do it in the afternoon or early evening of December 31st, to make sure that I meet the time requirement for the goal.
