It's true! Brotato definitely has a very similar gameplay style to Vampire Survivors.

What I find most interesting is how after Vampire Survivors, so many devs tried to expand upon the auto battler formula and how that style has more or less become its own genre. Some more successful than others of course, but games like Brotato found a good balance of familiar gameplay with an added twist.
