I was actually waiting to read this; so happy to peruse it while I drink my morning coffee. Loving all these pictures of the old city. Weird though that the Place Royale was rebuilt; I was looking at it on google street view and was thinking how that place took me back in time; it made me feel I was going to a village to buy equipment for a medieval game.

How long was the Funiculaire ride? We have something similar in Los Angeles called “Angels Flight” that takes you from the rougher area area of downtown LA near the “Grand Central Market” to the fancier area with museums and water gardens; it is actually quite cool. Would be much cooler if it went up really slow; most do not really go on those things for transport.
