When I was in first grade, I had a teacher who I remember as treating me extremely cruelly. I was losing my sight and unable to sleep due to nightmares and frightening visions, and this lead to me being extremely tired in class and incapable of paying attention. I remember the teacher would constantly deride and punish me, just for not being able to see. In response I became ornery and stopped trying.
Now take this with a grain of salt; because I was somewhat of a young, spoiled child who was also on the spectrum. Perhaps my trouble with reading people and situations and expectations of leniency may have colored my world view as to misread my teacher. However I was extremely sad and had a horrible experience in the presence of this teacher and she colored my world negatively for years to come.
The next year, with new glasses an a much nicer teacher, (At least in my mind ) I began to excel in class and became a top student, at least for a few years.
This picture is part of a series I am creating about a young girl who sees visions; perhaps it will become a picture book of some kind. I learned when I was older that young children with sight issues also often have similar experiences; so I thought perhaps a book about this harrowing topic might be in order.
I shared two versions of another image from this series previously.
They will all have to have further editing to look brighter I guess.
I have quite a few other images for this story that I am working on, but am not quite able to show. Will hopefully catch up in a day or two with them.
