‎Hello Hives,
‎
‎Lately, I have been thinking about how quickly life moves. Because it is actually strange when you stop and look at it properly.
‎
‎There was a time when being 17 felt like the beginning of everything. You had plenty of time ahead of you, plenty of dreams, and probably no idea how quickly the years would start running. Then suddenly, you are 27, and you are asking yourself, “Wait, how did ten years pass so quickly?”

‎
‎The scary part is that there is no big announcement when you grow older. It happens little by little. You finish school, meet new people, lose contact with some old friends, take on responsibilities and start seeing life differently.
‎
‎Sometimes, all it takes is finding an old picture on your phone to remind you of how much has changed just like I came across some old pictures of me on Facebook few days ago.
‎
‎You see an old photo and suddenly remember the people you were with, the place you were, the things you were talking about and even how you felt at that particular time. The picture might be blurry and the phone that took it might have been nothing special, but the memory attached to it can be priceless.
‎
‎Even certain smells or foods can take you back.
‎
‎There are meals I probably did not appreciate enough when I was younger. Now, remembering them brings a different feeling. Something as simple as food prepared at home can remind you of childhood, family and those days when life seemed much easier. I still remember back in the days when I used to went hunting with my uncle and pounded yam was our main food then.
‎
‎And then there are the friends.
‎
‎Some people you once spoke to every single day are now people you have not heard from in years. Some friendships simply faded with time, while others ended because life took everyone in different directions. Eventually, those old hangouts become reunions, and you start appreciating the little moments you once took for granted.
‎
‎Of course, growing older is not always beautiful. There are years you may look back on and wonder what you actually achieved. There are mistakes, disappointments and difficult seasons that you probably wish you could erase.
‎
‎But maybe not every year needs to have a big achievement attached to it. Sometimes surviving a difficult period, learning from your mistakes and continuing to move forward is an achievement too.
‎
‎So, wherever you are right now, don't forget to live a little.
‎
‎Take pictures. Visit people you love. Spend time with your family. Laugh when you can. Go outside and enjoy the day. Don't wait until everything is perfect before you start enjoying your life.
‎
‎Because the truth is, yesterday you were 17, today you might be 27, and before you realise it, tomorrow could be 37.
‎
‎Time won't slow down for us. The least we can do is make sure we are present while it passes.
