Hello Hives,
Sometimes, the things that hurt us most are not the things we did wrong, but the beautiful things we wanted to do and never got the chance to do it.
There is one experience I still think about whenever I remember how unpredictable life can be. It taught me a painful lesson about postponing things because we feel we are not yet ready.
When I was planning to visit my fiancée's family to properly introduce myself, her father was already looking forward to it at that time. I wanted that visit to be more than just an ordinary introduction. I wanted to make a good impression and show him respect by coming with a gift. It was something I had already thought about, and I wanted the day to be special.
Unfortunately, at that time, I didn't have enough money to do what I had in mind. I kept thinking about how I wanted everything to go. I wanted to be in a better financial position before making the visit, so I continued postponing it.
In my mind, I was not giving up on the plan. I was only waiting for the right moment. I believed that once I had enough money, I could finally visit him, present my gift, sit with him, and begin building a relationship with him.
I never imagined that life could take such a painful turn.
While I was still waiting for that perfect time, I received the news of his demise. Honestly, it was difficult for me to accept. The person I had hoped to meet properly, the man I wanted to make a good impression on, was gone before I could fulfil that intention.
What hurt me most was knowing that I had wanted to do something good, but I kept postponing it because I felt what I had was not enough.
I wished I could turn back the hands of time. I wished I had understood earlier that the visit itself might have meant more than the gift I was trying so hard to afford. Perhaps I could have visited him with what I had, spent some time with him, and had the opportunity to know him better.
But life does not give us the chance to replay every moment.
This experience left me with sadness and regret. I could not get to know him the way I had hoped for, and I will always remember that missed opportunity.
Sometimes, we spend so much time preparing to show love that we forget the person we want to show it to may not always be there.
I have learned that we don't need to wait until everything is perfect before showing someone that we care. A gift is beautiful, but our presence, time, and sincere intentions can mean even more.
If there is someone you have been meaning to visit, call, appreciate, or spend time with, please don't let the search for a perfect moment keep you away from them.
We can always work toward a better financial position, but we cannot control how much time we have with the people around us.
Sometimes, the little we can offer today is better than everything we hope to offer tomorrow.
May we learn to appreciate the people in our lives while we still have the opportunity to do so. ❤️
