I won’t even lie, I real feel for Filip Jorgensen in this situation.
Imagine him joining a massive club like Chelsea with excitement and big hopes, only to spend most of your time sitting on the bench. That can’t be easy for any player, especially a goalkeeper because they need regular matches to stay sharp and confident.

When Chelsea signed him from Villarreal, I honestly thought he would slowly become our main goalkeeper in the future. But football does not always go the way people expect. Most of the season, Robert Sanchez stayed ahead of him, and Jorgensen only got limited chances in the Premier League.
And let’s be honest, at 24 years old, I believe this is the stage where a player should be playing consistently and not waiting around every weekend while hoping for an opportunity.
From the reports going around now, it now seems he wants to leave Chelsea because of lack game time, and I actually can’t blame him for that. Sometimes what players need is a fresh start instead of staying somewhere they are not really making progress.
What even makes the whole thing even more understandable is the fact that Chelsea already have another young goalkeeper, Mike Penders, returning from his loan spell. I have seen a few clips of him online and the guy honestly looks very promising. If Chelsea already see him as part of their future plans, then maybe Jorgensen already knows his chances will become even limited next season.
Football can sometimes be really harsh. A player can have talent, work hard in training every day, and still not get enough opportunities because of competition or the manager’s preference.
I just hope wherever Jorgensen goes next, that he finds a club that eventually trusts him properly and gives him the chance to play regular football again. Sometimes leaving a big club is not failure. Sometimes it is exactly what a player needs to rebuild confidence and continue growing.
Many players have restarted their careers after leaving top clubs, so maybe this could end up being the best decision for him too.
