Macadamia is one of the most common trees found in the Australia. This genus is very famous in my country not only for productivity but also the nutrients form its nut to human health.
My neighbour has planted more than 500 Macadamia trees in the garden for over 8 years. And now it is the season of it. Each year, this garden gave him back a lot of profit by collecting and producing Macadamia nuts.
Today, I have a chance to visit his garden in the early morning. My friend drives me to a small rut which leads to the garden faster. The trees were planted at 6 metre intervals.
At the first time seeing the tree, I thought it is Morus Alba because both of them have the same shape and color of fruit.
To have a good taking care of it, my neighbour took a lot of work and effort to get such a great Macadamia garden like this.
I meet his mother when she is putting down fertilizer for trees. She introduces me about the Macadamia product which is made after collecting.
She takes me to the yard, strikes the fresh one and requires me to use it to distinguish the difference between both.
To be honest, the fresh one has greasy taste, delicate smell from the nuts that I cannot find it out in the dried one.
After harvesting, she will filter the nuts following the standard of its size. After drying, they also use a machine to create a groove on the nuts in order to people can separate the outer.
She talks to me a lot and finally she takes me a tour visting her garden, see the green fruits and show me the way to identify each genus.
I have bought 20 saplings to grow in my garden this rainy season. I will look at and wait for its growing till next year. If this tree grows well in my garden, I will intercrop Macadamia trees in the coffee area.
Have a nice weekend, my friends!
