Acciona covers all the energy demand of Google's facilities in Chile with 100% renewable energy from the photovoltaic plant in the Atacama desert, according to the company, which has signed a supply contract with the technology firm until At least 2030.

In this way, the group that presides over José Manuel Entrecanales contributes to Google's goal of green energy feeding its facilities throughout the world this year.

For Acciona, the contract is part of a strategy to collaborate with large corporate clients seeking to supply themselves with renewable energy to reduce their carbon footprint.

Under the agreement, the Spanish company delivers up to 80 megawatts (MW) of electricity annually through the central grid (SIC), the country's main electricity grid, to which the Google data center and supply plant is connected in Quilicura, one of the thirteen that counts in the whole world.

The energy comes from the photovoltaic plant 'El Romero Solar', the largest installation of this type built and operated until now by Acciona.

The facility, which spans an area of 211 football fields and has 196 MW of power, began to be progressively started in November last year.
