It's true that a couple should be a team. Society has turned everything into a gender battle instead of focusing on their project in common. For example, now con same sex couples, who then will take care of the home and who will bring the money? Both can be doing the exact same things just because that is what their gender is supposed to do, they have to distribute tasks in other way. Same should be with any couple... obviously there is tasks related to the gender just because it is easier for them to complete, but it still doesn't mean both shouldn't be helping each other...

Even when there is a routine that works, can be sickening to never have a day off your usual duties.
