Woot woot, just finished ordering some new silver coins.. Unfortunately, it looks like the markets are out of any silver German marks that I don't already have in my collection.. So I settled for the next best thing... Austrian schillings 😂

A 10 Deutche from 1990 that looks like it's dedicated to Mary and baby Jesus or something...And that imperial eagle looks like it has... boobs on its neck 😂
Well, the coin is dedicated to the 800th Anniversary of the Teutonic Order (Deutscher Orden) a religious order (which explains the iconography) established in 1190
Teutonic Order, also called Teutonic Knights, formally House of the Hospitalers of Saint Mary of the Teutons in Jerusalem, German Deutscher Orden, or Deutscher Ritter-Orden, or Haus der Ritter des Hospitals Sankt Marien der Deutschen zu Jerusalem, Latin Domus Sanctae Mariae Theutonicorum in Jerusalem, religious order that played a major role in eastern Europe in the late Middle Ages and that underwent various changes in organization and residence from its founding in 1189/90 to the present. source and further reading

Honestly, I don't give a rat's about the historical significance etc etc of this coin, it's a subject that doesn't interest me much.
But! I must admit it's a really beautiful piece and the fact that it is in almost proof condition is a nice bonus. I felt a bit bad taking it out of its capsule, that will probably be the first and last time ☺️
Much like all 10 mark coins we have seen we have 15.5 g of 0.625 purity, which translates to 9.7 grams of silver.
It's been a while since I last checked silver price. Looks like today it is $0.78 per g ($24.23 per ounce) so we have 7.5 $ worth of silver in this coin.
