After a long, long break from being an active affiliate marketer for amazon, today I decided to make a new start.

The Past

Back in the good days, I was making about 1-2 k USD per month from amazon, but one day I simply stopped because... I got bored of it and decided to experiment with other things, like crypto. Still, I continued to make a lot of moneys from amazon, since most of my traffic was coming from search engines, and all my sites were built quite nicely. Good content written by me, strong back links built by me, everything by me.. A good recipe that resulted in long term serp rankings and long term passive income for almost 4 years :)

The Now

Today I decided to get my hands dirty again. I will tell tell you my reasons tomorrow, let's not post everything today!

Since I have a day job and am quite busy in general, I plan to dedicate to this journey 1, 2 hours max a day. Since I will be doing everything myself, 1-2 hours is not optimal. However, the good thing is that I already have an old website bringing me amazon earnings already. It's not much but it's much better from starting from zero! Here's the earnings I had last month:

And here's the report for the current month:

I know, 70 $ a month is not much but I haven't touched this website AT ALL for approximately 3 years! It used to make a lot more, but slowly earnings declined, bit by bit, month by month. It's time to revive that sucker!

By the way, I can't stress how important is that I already have a head start. Those that have a moderate idea of affiliate marketing and SEO understand that I have a really good start. IMO, going from 70 $ to 700 $ a month is way more easier than going from 0$ a month to 70 $ a month. Especially, from a psychological standpoint. Affiliate marketing is a game of persistence, full of pain, self doubt and blood. It's super easy to quit if you are a total noob, when you go 1, 2 or even 3 months without seeing a single sale despite putting a lot of hard work daily. After all, we are creatures of instant gratification!

What I did today

So what I did today was the following:

  1. Wrote and published a new generic post for said website. Google loves fresh content! As long as it's unique and fresh. I plan to do that every few days, hopefully showing google the site is back in business and giving all pages an overall boost!
  2. Added some content to the 3 articles that promote amazon products. In total the site has at least 50 generic pages that are not monetized in any kind of way. And just 3 best-lists-of-xxx-amazon-products that generate all the income.
  3. Created some pinterest, reddit, and quora backlinks, most of them targeting the money pages and the index.

As for tomorrow, the plan is:

  • Build some social backlinks (twitter, fb, etc) to the new post I published today
  • Build some backlinks again for the money generating pages.
  • Whatever I come up at that moment. I like to improvise with my SEO, whether it's about link building or posting new content.

Long term Goal

Don't have a solid goal yet, but hopefully I will reach 500-1000 usd per month in the next 3-6 months.

Why this series?

The main reason I am starting this series is that hopefully it will help me stay motivated by recording my progress. As I said before, affiliate marketing is fucking boring and it's very easy to stray away!

Also, these posts are easy and quick to write so I will be making high quality content for steemit without spending hours and hours. So hopefully I will be getting some fat upvotes here too. Did someone say "win-win"?

What you will learn

I plan to make regular updates on my progress, perhaps on a daily basis. Now, I know simply posting "yesterday I made x $ and y sales" is fucking boring.

To keep things spiced I will probably include tips about the types of backlinks I built, how I built them, how the site is structured etc. If am too lazy or too tired, I might instead include links for how-to guides that I can vouch for. TLDR, I will try to transfer the knowledge from my head, to your stupid head. I am not much of a teacher, nor a guru of SEO and affiliate marketing but I will try my best.

So, hopefully some of you may find the series interesting and maybe learn a thing..or two.. Feel free to leave any questions, maybe I will answer them directly or in the next post.

Stay tuned!
