My concern with these newer Neo Geo games is, well simply, most do not look like a Neo Geo game but they are charging Neo Geo game prices, seemingly because "they can".
Back in the day, Neo Geo games were so detailed, tons of animation, audio that blew everything else away, etc. It was easy to concince the public that the file size was needed - maybe harder to justify actually buying but the first hurdle was beaten none the less.
These newer Neo Geo games are not that detailed, the audio is not all that impressive, etc. It is like being on Neo Geo is a gimmick alone to gain some kind of free marketing with retro themed platforms rather than the games merits.
I do not know the size of Necro Pop but I am going to go ahead and guess it is somehow 250+ megs on a Neo Geo cart. Granted, that is around 30 megs on PC taking into account the difference in how memory is calculated.
I never understood why the Neo Geo CD is not more supported. It would be cheaper to get the Neo Geo version in fans hands (emulators for example) but it would also make it easier for fans to make illegal copies (CD ripping software is everywhere - not so much for carts).
Based on what I have seen so far, I just don't feel Necro Pop is a Neo Geo focused game, no more than using the Neo Geo as a prop to get news coverage. That is a shame because I love this genre and am still excited for this game, cheap marketing gimmicks aside.
